Swype App Reviews

Best keyboard I know

Ive been using Swype since its release in iOS 8, daily, loving it. It works great and fast and they provide updates to make it even better and bug free. Today I got the new update which adds a ton of new iOS 9.2 emojis, which I asked the developers for. Sooo happy ☺

Loved, now hate

Ive been using Swype for a year now and have loved it. However, it has been increasingly inaccurate as time goes on. Its becoming extremely difficult to use and agonizingly frustrating as it often corrects common words to the most absurd, unused words out there. I dont know why, but in the last week, this failure to cooperate has increased tenfold. I will be switching to another keyboard.

Was great, now barely usable

The keyboard doesnt pop all the way up half the time, which is very frustrating, since you usually have to cancel what youre writing, and hope the keyboard works the next time. Also, you cant always see what youre typing. In fact, I couldnt even use Swype to write this review! Not only could I not see what I was writing, but the only option available was to cancel! Please fix!!! Other than these issues, I would call this a 5 star program.

Thats noir what I meabt

The auto correct is a little ridiculous on this thing.. Even when I go back and manually retype the word I want a thousand times.. It just never clues in.. Always have you go back and fix something.

Whew

I was using SwiftKey which would fail to load 3-4 times a day. Using Swype for about a week now with no bugs or errors. Great to have a keyboard that works! Only change would be to swap the placement of the number and settings key like the Apple keyboard. Im always pressing the settings button rather than caps. Annoying! Just do not like everyone else please.

Swype you crazy!

Upgraded to iOS 9 and Swype has gone full loco. Please sop mashing things up Swype (that should have said please stop mixing things up..) But you crazy

Buggy version

Current version is buggy, slow to respond or load. Frequently have to exit and reopen app to get keyboard to load. Hasnt been updated since July but theres been a couple of os updates in that time.

Works Good but needs backup feature

Keyboard works good on iPhone & iPad. Its better to have icloud backup for personal dictionary.

Good idea that needs work.

I like the app but has many bugs that need addressing Sometimes a grey space will show up where letter on a keyboard will normally go. Sometimes the section that shows what you are typing does now show up. When typing in codes that are strictly numbers there is not a numbers only keypad making this difficult. There is no option to shut off prediction words. Major problems with the period button being too close to the space bar resulting in words.that.look.like.this. Worse yet, spellcheck will try to make mess that into one big word not even close to what you meant. At minimum spellcheck should recognize a space should go where that period should go. Major problem with going back to correct spelling and swype not realizing you are adding on to another word and will think you are trying to create a new word. I unfortunately find myself switching back to regular keyboard after being overly frustrated with swype but consistently go back to see if improvements have been made.

Some issues

Annoying that it replaces words with :-) when trying to type "ch" for example. Difficult Thu work with when entering email addresses

Horribly inaccurate for the simplest things

Why does it default to inserting proper names instead of the logical word? Penalizes people that are fast.. Only works if you move s..l..o..w..l..y... Whats the point?

Fast and accurate

Much faster and easier than typing by tapping one letter at a time. It usually gets the correct word (with good tolerance for sloppy swipes), but even when it doesnt, the word I wanted is almost always among the suggestions). The phrase correction also works well. One thing I wish it would do is let me simply tap the Swype button to switch keyboards. Right now a tap does nothing at all, and it seems silly to have to hold down the button and select a menu item every time I want to switch to another keyboard. Also, theres no way to type a real ellipsis…an unfortunate oversight that still hasnt been corrected.

Probably the best out there right now

Even writing this review with the Swype keyboard, out of all the swipe keyboards Ive tried, this was the only one that was so responsive and accurate, well with the cost!

Love the look, hate the performance

Ive been an every day user of Swype for nearly a year now, and I loved the idea right away. Theres nothing I hate more than using the standard keyboard on my iPhone. Swype looks great, its word detection is really good, and the swiping animation is smooth and not distracting. The biggest issue Ive had is its performance, which is of utmost importance. When I open my text messages or search bar in Safari, I often get no keyboard popping up at all. I then have to close the app and reopen it to get Swype to work again. My latest experience was having my keyboard completely locked, with no recourse other than deleting Swype altogether. Im not sure if Ill be downloading it again. If it worked 99.9% of the time with a few hiccups, itd be a 5 star app. When it is working, it vastly outperforms SwiftKey. For now though, Ill take a reliable keyboard over a Swype keyboard that has had the same issues for a year without any fix.

Excellent concept but eats up your battery too fast

I love the app and its functionalities. Only downside, it drains your battery in no time.

Nice app

I love the app but can you add the apostrophe beside the "L" on the French (Canada) QWERTY keyboard to write faster.

Swype no more

Im done with Swype! Since the last update the keyboard never pops up, now you must select it every time you text message. This used to be my primary keyboard but until they announce a fix, Im done.

The best

I like it much better than SwiftKey for swipe style typing. After entering a word, it gives you alternatives in case the entered word was a mistake, which is much much more useful than SwiftKey which tries to predict the next word (but rarely gets it right).

Drains battery!!

This app is a crazy battery drain! My iPhone 6 was going to low battery in no time, the upper part of the phone was turning very hot randomly. I had an appointment with Apple Genius to see whats happening and we figured that it was this app. Since I removed it, my iPhone went back to normal. I dont advise any of you using it, unless they specifically address this problem. This is a pity because, other than this problem, it is the best alternative keyboard out there.

Bulls**t

I want my money back, ok you buy this app for 5$ and then you have to pay 1$ for the themes. Biggest rip off ever
