Swype App Reviews

Great idea, sub-par app.

I love the swype input method but the fact that nonsensical and obscure words, even odd foreign looking names or sets of numbers, often pop up instead of the very common word that was intended is extremely frustrating. Why not remove that crap from the dictionary!? Or at least give me the option of a set of dictionaries, one being completely comprehensive like the default one used currently and another being common modern American English...

Needs option to turn off auto capitalisation

Works well but Id like the option top start my sentences without a capital

Needs improvement for Arabic

The keyboard seems very nice and really makes your typing fast. Just like it. However, I dont know why it have weird Arabic keyboard, it just make it hard time finding the Arabic letters with it, specially (ذ) letter, I would appreciate if you use default Arabic keyboard template from Apple.

Good!

Good app! Works like instructed but needs more accurate tap typing and update emoji!! Last update for this app was October 2015! Amazing up but very slow progress!

Display Issue

Taking a star away from my original review. The app didnt seem too bad at first but over time the auto correct or whatever the heck it is has become so bad that it had rendered this app nearly useless. Im using the iPhone 6 on iOS9.

Terrible - DO NOT BUY

This app does not work. No way to recoup $ or get support either. I should have trusted the many negative reviews.

Not reliable

Accurate, but not reliable. Every time there is an update it malfunctions.

No dictation access

The faq says the microphone isnt accessible by extension on iOS 8. Were well into iOS 9. Fix it.

Fair

The keyboard is nice and somewhat accurate, works better with Apples suggestions at the top, but I was disappointed when I found out that they dont include support for 3d touch features for editing text, like highlighting text and moving the text editor (the blinking bar) around the screen.

One of the Better Options

I like the ability to Swype, however the auto-incorrect is krazy; be patient as it learns your styles of Swype and words. ONE REQUEST I HAVE Is To Have Either a Slide Bar to Navigate For Incorrect Spelt Words or Arrows, that would be super helpful :)

Dont bother with the settings

Want to turn if auto correct? Doesnt matter. You can turn it off in iPhone settings and Swype settings, but you will still have absurd autocorrection of common 3 letter prepositions. Whats up with your algorithm? Fire the guy who tweaks it.

Good but should be better

I have been a heavy user of swipe-type keyboards for many years, and now use Swype for iPhone. Its better and more precise than several other swipe keyboards for iPhone, but has several annoying problems which make it hard to use on a smaller, iPhone 5 screen. I would love the app to be more configurable, plus to remember my most frequent choices among similar words. Examples: Swype always erroneously picks "patent" over "parent", "Erik" over "will" (!!!), "top" over "to" (!!!). I always correct "Erik" back to "will", but the app still continues to assume "Erik" the next time I type "will". This is my biggest gripe- some other swipe-type apps are self learning, but unfortunately have other, bigger bugs. Secondly, when I type words one character at a time, meaning that I want a very particular spelling or an acronym, it force autocorrects the word anyway. I want to be able to configure Swype, so that any such words that I type one letter at a time should not be auto corrected. I am happy to pay more for these extra features, since I heavily rely on Swype every day.

Perfect when it works

Noticed it getting faster in recent months, but lately it will appear on the 123 screen and not allow me to switch back to abc screen... Gets frozen on numbers. Previously it got hung up writing gibberish and running really slowly. Uninstall and reinstall works, but still a pain. I cant type without this so when it works its arguably my most valuable app.

Bad Update

This version often changes the last word when I add punctuation. Months later and its STILL not fixed. Dropping a star.

Great keyboard, several updates needed

Swype is actually my favorite keyboard, but on iOS its buggy beyond reason. It gets stuck between different size layouts, even just on one model. The typing works well, but it needs to be updated to include the new emoji. Its completely missing some iOS 9 emoji and doesnt allow changing her skin tones of the others. Come on Swype!

A much better experience

The predictions are much more accurate. Also the engine seems much more forgiving. This is much more like the excellent experience Ive had with Swype (and their major competitor) on another platform for years! My iPhone had entered the 21st century!!! Ill have to measure my typing speed, but Id guess Im swiping almost twice as fast as I can type. It just takes some practice for a couple of days, and then you have that big breakthrough!

Tired of fighting this app.

Inn just going to let autocorrect lace whatever did it wants to inn the space as I type. This is absurdly unacceptable and I am ducking sick of waiting on this development team to get their heads out of their address. Start fixing the bugs in this app already. Im fed up with the Buddhist that autocorrect gives me. I want to say with, autocorrect says Ruth. I say do, autocorrect says fui. What the duck is fui? Really?!?!

Autocorrect

Just take off your autocorrect... Its horrible. I cant even begin to tell you how many incorrect texts I send because this keyboard just changes it over and over and over again. Other than that. Keyboard works great.

Much Better!

April 13, 2016 UPDATE: iOS is up to date. The most recent Swype update is atrocious! Please fix, STAT!! ******* Anyway, the June 18 update was awful, but I updated to iOS 8.3 and that seemed to do the trick. My Swype keyboard seems to be back to normal. Im so glad, because I was thisclose to deleting it. That was a close one!

Better than most.. still frustrating

STOP autocorrecting words that are really words!!! I typed the word for a reason. If I physically type a word, meaning pressing of the buttons, I actually do want that word. Why would I want it to change if I press space?? Yes, I really do want "ask" NOT "sal"... Who the heck types sal!?
